Who should treat lung cancer?

Lung cancer should be treated surgically by a surgeon with training in a certified thoracic surgical training program and board certification in thoracic surgery.

Preferably, he should have a large experience in the treatment of lung cancer, since many thoracic surgeons do primarily cardiac surgery and only occasionally manage lung cancer patients.

In similar fashion, both radiation therapy and chemotherapy treatment should be provided by physicians with board certification in these fields i.e Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology.
